This course is designed for students who want to improve their understanding and confidence when speaking, reading and listening in an aviation environment.


We understand that students need a good level of language proficiency to cope successfully with ab-initio aviation training delivered in English. This intensive English course deals with topics directly linked to aviation operations and flight safety. It also includes activities which raise proficiency in six language criteria - pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interactions. Together these skills improve safety in aeronautical communication and prepare you for professional aviation training.

2.5 hours each class; 4 classes per module

Content:

New Module A1 (June 2019)

- Aerodynamics

- RT Phraseology and Introduction of the ICAO English test

- Radio Practice and Aircraft Operations

- Crew Resource Management

Admission Requirement: 

Students are expected to have a basic level of English ability.


Teaching Instructors:

Native-speaking instructors of the course are drawn from our panel of experienced airline pilots and Aviation English experts.


(Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.)


We at IAE endeavor to avoid any conflict of interest and request that anyone having taken their ICAO assessment with IAE, seek training from an alternative service provider.


This course does not teach you how to pass the ICAO English assessment. It is designed to develop your English skills with an aviation focus.

Course Content

The course consists of a series of modules, each focusing on a range of aviation subjects. Each module centres on a subject-specific vocabulary and to provide a context for the exercises and language functions.


Areas covered include Instrumentation, General Navigation, Meteorology, Human Performance and Limitations, Operational Procedures, Airframes and Systems, Engines and Propulsion, Airmanship and Air Law, Flight Planning and Monitoring, Professional Environment, Principles of Flight, Mass and Balance, Electrics, ATC Systems and equipment.


As part of the course, students receive tailored feedback on language performance from the instructors.


This course does not teach you how to pass the ICAO English assessment. It is designed to develop your English skills with an aviation focus.
